My (nick) name is Ika/Ayka. I am originally from Lenkoran, Azerbaijan and currently live in San Francisco, California. I am a participant of 5 International and Exchange Programs. I graduated New Media from Middle Tennessee State University. I love traveling, learning different cultures, taking photos and cooking national cuisine.
I am blogging since 2005. My first blog was about education and human rights. I named my blog ‘Freeexpression’ and was writing educative articles based on my US education and research. My topics covered democracy and 5’Freedoms. I also shared posts about exchange programs, internships and job opportunities abroad.
I opened my first travel blog in 2010. My travel blog named www.dervish-az.com . The origin of ‘dervish’ comes from Persian language and means a person who travels a lot. I used to travel a lot while I was participating in various international education programs. I met different interesting people, experienced many challenges and learnt different cultures. I wanted to remember these valuable moments and opened my first travel blog.
My personal travel blog gained more than 2000 viewers. Readers were emailing me and asking various questions about traveling. It encouraged me to enlarge my blog and make it global. I changed my blog name under my gorgeous baby Nur in 2014 and named it www.NurTravel.org . I added more categories such as, “Travel Interview” where I interview travelers. I also added “Best Travel Ads” category and I post unusual travel advertisements that I find interesting.
