Most of us have already passed the rainy and snowy days of winter. Spring has come and summer is almost knowing our doors with its hot and sunny days. So, it’s a good time to start traveling around the world. The most probably you have time and money now, but not sure where to go?

Let me give you some tips on where to travel in the coming few months, so that it can be both interesting for you, and worth your time and money. Bring some tea or coffee for yourself and read carefully the top 10 cities to travel in 2012.

1) London, United Kingdom takes the first place in this list. If you haven’t travelled to London, June 2012 is the best time as the city is going to celebrate the Queen’s Diamon Jubilee. It’s going to be a huge parade and aflotilla of a 1,000 boats on the Thames. Don’t you think that it would be something unusual and interesting to participate at?!

2) New York city, New York is the second destination that you won’t miss. If you are not sure where to go in New York, make sure you visit the Empire State Building, Times Square and Broadway show. If you are interested to see different neighbourhood in New York, then go to African-Amercan culture in Harlem and immigrant history in the Lower East Side.

3) Rome, Italy is the third ‘must see’ city in our list. Probably you have heard about the tasty cusine of Italian culture. If you want to taste something different, get a fresh pizza bianca at the Forno in the Campo de’ Fiori. You can also buy tiny strwberries and the city’s best gelato in a street market that you will never forget the taste.

4) Paris, France. You’d be definitelly wondered if we didn’t have Paris in this list. The famous places that you have already heard from you friends are the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Notre Dame. However, getting away from the tourist sights and visiting rural parts of Paris will open a new vision for you that you have never heard from your friends before. Are you fan of wine? If yes, then don’t miss to drink a glass of savoury wine and watch Le Monde.

5) San Francisco, California is one of my favorite places in the world. This is the place where you can see diverse group of people living in different neighborhoods. The first places that I suggest you to visit is Golden Gate Bridge. Although it’s foggy there but I promise you that you will enjoy that fog. You can also go to Fisherman’s Wharf, Aquarium of the Bay, Chinatown and Lombard street, a huge Golden Gate Park with the beatiful Japanese Tea Garden and Rose Garden in it. If you have more time to stay here, then definitely take a ship or a boat and visit Alcatraz. And don’t miss to ride a cable car and stroll around the Presidio. If you want to see diverse people with different cultures then go to different neighborhoods, such as Castro, Mission District, etc.

Top 10 Destinations in the World in 2012

6) Marrakech, Morocco. If you love adventures, this is a city where you can lose youself in the narrow, winding streets of the Medina that takes 6th place in the list. You will always remember Marrakech with it’s spicy smell in the air, and sip mint tea in the Majorelle Garden. Are you from working during the whole year and your body needs a rest? Then go to the Mythic Oriental Spa that offers you a good massages with reasonable prices. Make sure you don’t miss Ali Ben Youssef Medersa, Medina of Marrakech and Maison de la Photographie after having a rest at the Spa.

7) Istanbul, Turkey. I would have surprised if we didn’t have this city in the list of top ten destinations of 2012. This is the city where you can see a vibrant mix of many cultures, including Europe and Asia. The city of Istanbul is the place which is active 24 hours a day. You even don’t feel how quickly the time passes here. You don’t need to save crackers for your supper if you are hungry late night. You can find foods during the 24 hours, and you will enjoy the best service of restaurants, tea places and coffee shops with a reasonable price. I definitely advice you to visit the Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya) Museum that has an unbelievable story behind him. It was a church, then a mosque and is now a museum. Istanbul will also suprise you with it’s Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman architecture around town. Make sure you visit Kariye Museum (The Chora Church), Sultanahment District, Suleymaniye Mosque, Istanbul Old Town and Bosphorus Strait.

8) Barcelona, Spain is the number 8 in the list this year. If you have travelled all the above mentioned places, we still have some more suggestions for you. Would you like to see many buildings date back to Roman and medieval times? If yes, definitely go to Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic). This is the place that you won’t be charged and can save your money for churros and hot chocolate to eat at Cafe de L’Opera which is operating since 1929. You can also enjoy Catalan cuisine at Les Quinze Nits for $10-$20. Try not to miss a chance to visit Church of the Sacred Family (Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia), Geull Park (Parc Guell) and La Rambla where you can see Mirador de Colon with the statue of Christopher Columbus on top.

9) Siem Reap, Cambodia. Tell you the truth, I didn’t expect to see this city in the list of top ten destinations of 2012, my bad, sorry. However, this is the place that you can find wide range of brand-new restaurants, night clubts and hotels. Angkor Archaelogical Park is one of the largest religious complexes in the world that would be a great experience for you to see with your own eyes rather than watching photos via online. The temples built by the kings of the Khmer Empire back in 9th and 13th century worth to see. If you are a fan of riding horses, this is the city I advice you to visit. Just go to the Happy Ranch Horse Farm and enjoy it’s international standard horse riding offer. You can enjoy horse riding even if you haven’t ride the horse before because they offer horses for all levels, including from first time riders to advanced.

10) Berlin, Germany is the 10th place in our list for 2012. It is not surprising that we all can be victims of hotel advertisements if we don’t have enough information about that hotel.  We search  hotels depending on our budget. We check their price, conditions, reservation terms and then we decide according to the pictures that we review online. And sometimes, not always, we review comments of travelers about that hotel.  We book hotels by looking at their pictures posted to some websites with a full of “praise” information.

But what if our expectations will not be justified? What if it is not the same  as it was on a website?

There are two ways: put our luggage  in one room, forget about the planned trip and waste our time looking for a better hotel; or accept what  we have  and  stay at the dirty place full of  “invisible  bugs”. Invisible because we couldn’t see them online, and we find out about their existence after getting  the key to our “booked” room.  Even if  we will try to change our hotel and look for a better hotel after  arrival to some place, it doesn’t guarantee that we can find it  especially during holidays.

According to the hotel choice travelers are divided into two groups:

The Dirtiest Hotels in the US, 2011
The Dirtiest Hotels in the US, 2011

The first group of people prefer to stay at an expensive place with the most comfortable room, bar, massage, breakfast and everything including.

The second group of people want only a normal bed just to sleep few hours thinking that they will spend most of their time outside and they don’t need to spend much money only for sleeping few hours.  Even if some people prefer to pay less money for hotels but they still want to stay at a hotel  which is clean.

Taking into consideration our visitors comfort, Dervis decided to do some search about the dirtiest hotels in the United States and help travelers to choose the right place to stay.
